The number eight wire mentality stems from rural NZ's ability to look at a problem, and solve it - In most cases with minimal resources, often somewhere far from a tool shed. A personal story comes to mind, when once I re-threaded a ballcock fitting and fixed a trough with a bit of wire I have turned into a make shift sort of a scribe. That type of thinking is what has made NZ the resourcefull little country that continues to punch well above its weight.
